Denise from 3@1 Head Office gets featured in local newspapers!!

About a year ago, Denise Tibbs from 3@1 head office and her husband adopted a dog from the SPCA. Recently, she was approaced by the organisation to write a short article about the impact that this new addition to the family has had on their lives. This article will be featured in many local news papers around Cape Town.

This is the article that Denise wrote:

MUFFIN

We had 15 wonderful years with our Maltese Dog and were broken hearted when due to failing health we had to put him down.  We also look after our son’s Bulldog, Flash due to the fact that he now lives in an upstairs apartment and is not allowed to keep pets.
We as a family felt that we needed to get a companion for the Bulldog and decided to “give a chance“ to a rescued dog.  We visited the SPCA and met a number of dogs all of whom looked pleadingly at us.  It was a difficult decision but eventually we were so taken with the beautiful “ragamuffin” who had the most appealing eyes and shaggy coat.  My husband took one look at her romping around and with her cheeky walk, looking very much like she had knock knees,  stated “Well she will not make a ramp model but she certainly has something”.  We had to introduce her to Flash and he was as taken with her as we were.
We decided to call her Muffin and she has taken to her new home amazingly.  One would never believe that this little dog having obviously been abused could give so much love.   She was under a year old when she was rescued, found wandering the streets.  There is evidence that her tail must have been broken in a couple of places and her one rib also has a knob which leads us to believe that this was also broken at some stage.
She has taught us that you can be abused, abandoned and unloved but you do not give up hope or the capacity to love again.  She has brought us such joy, such humiliation as to how man who was given the task by God to look after the animals has miserably failed this honour.
We salute organizations like the SPCA who give everything they have to honour Gods bidding and truly look after these poor, unwanted, animals that have been so badly treated.  We pray that others will give these special beings a chance, you will not regret it, they will teach you so much just as Muffin has taught us the joy of being alive and able to trust and love unconditionally.

Denise, her husband, their Bulldog Flash and the sweet little Muffin.

Well Done Denise! We are proud to have you as part of the 3@1 Team!!!
